FPDLink III Automotive Camera Solution Based on TI AM62A + FPGA
As a technology innovation enterprise focused on imaging and vision technology, and an ecosystem partner of global leading semiconductor company Texas Instruments (TI), Xinmai recently launched a compatible 2-megapixel to 3-megapixel FPDLink III smart camera solution based on the TI AM62A kit.
FPDLink III Camera
FPDLink III is a high-speed serial interface standard introduced by TI, used to connect image sensors and processors. It supports high-resolution and high-frame-rate image transmission. Xinmai's independently developed FPDLink camera can transmit uncompressed video, control signals, and power over a single low-latency cable. It supports full 1080p, 2k, and 3k HD displays, as well as device-level HDCP keys, while also providing adaptive equalization to compensate for cable aging and temperature variations.

This time, FPDLink III cameras were launched based on the TI AM62A kit. Utilizing the FPDLink III interface of the deserializer evaluation module (DS90UB954-Q1EVM), two FPDLink III cameras can be connected simultaneously, transmitting high-quality images to TI's AM62A AI vision processor for smooth and efficient operation.
Xinmai's smart camera solution, deeply integrated with TI AM62A processors, improves the imaging quality of autonomous machines. It provides a complete vision solution for edge AI vision systems, enabling developers to design their own high-performance, high-speed, and high-resolution machine vision applications.
TI Starter Kit for AI Vision Applications

The SK-AM62A-LP starter kit is built around TI's AM62A AI vision processor, supporting a 5MP (60FPS) Image Signal Processor (ISP), an AI accelerator with 2 Trillion Operations Per Second (TOPS), a quad-core 64-bit Arm®-Cortex® A53 microprocessor, a single-core Arm Cortex-R5F, and H.264/H.265 video encoding/decoding.
The SK-AM62A-LP also provides a Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI®) CSI-2 camera connector for a single camera and an additional expansion connector for up to 4 cameras, making it suitable for various edge embedded vision and AI applications. It supports rapid development of hardware-accelerated applications in edge computing, robotics, and machine vision.
Applications of the TI AM62A-based Smart Camera Solution
Deep integration of FPDLink III cameras with TI AM62A processors provides access to a feature-rich Edge AI Software Development Kit (SDK), enabling customers to develop vision applications on TI's AM62A™ processor. The RDK makes testing and development of vision-based applications very easy by providing known working combinations of sensor modules and optical components, along with the necessary drivers and tuned image sensor profiles.
