[In-Vehicle Audio/Video AI Computer] Railway Video Surveillance System Solution
Solution Overview
The Railway Video Surveillance System Solution addresses the safety and operational assurance needs of the railway industry. In accordance with the technical specifications of China Railway Corporation, and based on the railway system's IP network, it adopts advanced video surveillance technology to build a complete digital, intelligent, and distributed integrated railway video surveillance system. This system achieves sharing of video network resources and information resources, meeting the video application requirements for various operations such as dispatch, rolling stock management, freight, passenger transport, locomotive maintenance, engineering, vehicle maintenance, public security, track protection, disaster prevention, traction power supply, emergency rescue, and emergency management.
Background and Challenges
In recent years, China's railway construction has entered a period of rapid development. To ensure the safe operation of railways, video surveillance has been widely applied. Demands for image quality have also become increasingly stringent, evolving from initially just being able to see images, to now requiring clear images, and in the future, high-definition images capable of processing and analysis, and so on. Under the trend of digital surveillance, the pursuit of image clarity has become a significant development trend for video surveillance. The application of high-definition cameras and HD surveillance systems has also gradually gained importance in the railway industry. At the same time, railway video surveillance is characterized by dispersed locations, harsh equipment operating environments, high construction difficulty, and high installation and commissioning costs.
To standardize the construction of railway video surveillance systems, China Railway Corporation issued the "Technical Specifications for Integrated Railway Video Surveillance Systems" in 2013.
Solution
The Railway Video Surveillance System Solution, in accordance with the technical specifications of China Railway Corporation, designates each railway administration as a video regional node, station/depot locations as Type I video access points, and intermediate stations, signal base stations, signal towers, and interlocking stations along the line as Type II video access points. At each access node and regional node, media information within its jurisdiction is stored and distributed locally. At the monitoring centers of railway administrations and station/depots, authorized duty personnel can view media information within their jurisdiction in real-time and control and manage system resources within their jurisdiction.

Solution Advantages
1) Multi-Video Source Hybrid Access
High definition is a major trend in the development of integrated railway video surveillance. The system can simultaneously access standard-definition (SD) and high-definition (HD) video. HD network cameras are used for key areas along railway lines and at stations, enabling intelligent analysis based on images on an HD foundation. SD cameras are used in general locations. A unified management system is employed, supporting mixed encoding and decoding of HD and SD, centralized storage, thereby protecting user investment.
2) Powerful Multi-Level, Multi-Domain Networking Capabilities
It meets the three-level hierarchical and domain-based management requirements specified in the technical specifications for integrated railway video surveillance systems, covering regional nodes of railway administrations, Type I video access nodes, and Type II video access nodes. It flexibly supports various application management needs, from resource access to cross-domain management operations, and supports mainstream industry standards.
3) Efficient and Reliable Storage Management
Direct-write video stream storage uses a stream data structure for underlying data management. It implements a pre-allocation strategy based on raw space, which avoids issues of unreadable or lost files caused by file system corruption. At the same time, it prevents performance degradation from overwrite operations caused by accumulated file fragmentation, ensuring stable performance.
4) Efficient Intelligent Analysis Applications
The system can provide functions such as facial recognition, intrusion detection, unattended object detection, crowd gathering detection, automatic tracking, and license plate recognition, making the entire system more intelligent. Additionally, intelligent analysis methods are compatible with both front-end hardware and platform software.
5) Mature System Re-use Design
To save overall investment costs and better utilize resources from existing video systems, a variety of mature and complete system re-use designs are provided.
6) Comprehensive System O&M System
A video quality diagnostic system is introduced. It performs real-time intelligent analysis and diagnosis on all analog cameras and network cameras connected via DVRs (Digital Video Recorders) or DVSs (Digital Video Servers). It supports abnormal phenomena such as video loss, color cast, blur, and interference, enabling real-time monitoring and management of integrated railway video surveillance system resources, reducing potential risks of system malfunction, and ensuring normal system operation.
7) Open Interfaces, Superb Compatibility
Both hardware and software support mainstream industry protocols. It provides comprehensive SDKs for systems and devices, facilitating integration and linkage with third-party management platforms to build and optimize the industry value chain.
