In the process of railway freight transportation, timely detection of abnormal issues such as cargo exceeding limits, shifting, or overloading, and identifying vehicles with overloaded or oversized cargo, is of great significance for ensuring operational safety and is one of the effective measures to guarantee safe train operation. Abnormal cargo loading is a significant cause of railway transportation accidents. Therefore, real-time dynamic monitoring of freight car loading status is an important means to ensure the safe operation of freight cars.

The railway freight car loading video monitoring system achieves dynamic detection and real-time monitoring of the loading status of arriving and departing freight trains, providing accurate and timely pre-inspection information for cargo inspectors, and offering necessary data for querying and analyzing abnormal freight car loading situations. A smart rail transit solution provider was looking for a 4U rack-mount industrial computer to be used in its railway freight car loading video intelligent monitoring system. The equipment had to meet the following conditions:

Product Solution

This railway freight car loading video intelligent monitoring system integrates technologies such as line scan high-definition color imaging, vehicle number recognition, and deep learning to real-time scan moving freight cars and generate high-definition color images. In this system, the PADR-S501 achieves intelligent identification and voice alarming for nine major categories of cargo inspection issues, including cargo loading reinforcement, closed doors/windows/hatches/valves, tarpaulin covering, container transportation, and sealing. It also outputs detection results in real-time and automatically generates inspection reports and other operational steps.

Application Scenario

A standard 19-inch 4U rack-mount industrial computer, based on an X86 architecture, was chosen for this project, equipped with an Intel i7-7700 CPU. It boasts extremely strong expansion capabilities, with 3 PCIe + 1 PCI expansion slots supporting the insertion of multiple data acquisition cards, enabling integrated processing of multi-channel video data. Multiple I/O interfaces, with audio output capability, supporting 5.1 channels and high-fidelity audio, allow for real-time voice alarming upon detection of issues. Multi-display functionality, with three independent displays (HDMI+VGA+DVI-D), enables cargo inspectors to effectively perform monitoring and inspection tasks. Having passed China Compulsory Certification (CCC), it offers extremely high reliability, supports wide-temperature operation, is shock-resistant and impact-resistant, meeting the demands for 24/7 continuous and stable operation.
